Mama Bear Springs Into Action As Her Three Cubs Tumble Over Waterfall

Kids! They give their moms heart attacks no matter what species they are! Recent footage captured by explore.org’s bearcam at Brooks Falls in Alaska’s Katmai National Park caught a dramatic moment on camera.

A mama brown bear nicknamed Grazer (#128) and her three cubs were in the river. The mama is fishing for salmon when one of her babies is swept over the waterfall, soon followed by her second cub and with the third not too far behind.

Mama starts barking when she notices her first cub went over the side, and when the second one tumbles over, she bolts down the salmon ladder to make sure her cubs get safely to shore, which she does. The third cub also tumbles over the falls and mama manages to reach him too. Whew!

You can see the full footage of mom and her cubs in the video below. You’ll also see the family all heading for shore together. I have a feeling the cubs will be staying on dry land while mom goes fishing the next time.

Share this amazing bearcam moment with your family and friends!
