When Alex Watson, a “2 year-old muttigree” from Alabama, arrived at the Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue in October 2015 he instantly won over his caregivers with his smile. But it took a few months of waiting for something good to happen.

The 55-pound dog finally met someone to love and smile for. “Alex Watson was smiling all day like he knew he was getting ADOPTED,” the rescue wrote on its Facebook page. “His grin only widened when he was reunited with the forever mama he met this weekend.”

With a smile like that, my only question is why did it take so long?
