The New York City Subway is the scene of many life moments. They can be simple ones from people dancing and singing to this story, of a man who found a newborn baby!
Danny Stewart first thought he spotted a doll. “I continued up the stairs because I didn’t think anything of it, but I glanced back at the floor and I saw legs moving,” he told NBC 4 New York.
Stewart was shocked to find a baby with his umbilical cord still attached. Stewart immediately called 911, and then his partner.
Fast-forward three months later and no one had come forward to claim the child and police had no leads as to who the baby’s parents were. During a family court hearing to determine the baby’s future a judge asked Stewart if he was interested in adopting the child. That’s when Stewart and his partner, Peter Mercurio, made a decision that would change their lives, and the life of an abandoned boy, forever.
