Loyal Cat Visits the Grave of the Man Who Rescued Him and Leaves Little Gifts

In northeast Italy, there’s a loyal cat named Toldo who visits his owner’s grave every day. No matter the weather, Toldo goes to pay his respects to the man who saved him. Sometimes he even brings a small gift to place on the grave.

Toldo was rescued from a feral cat colony by a man named Renzo Iozzelli, who sadly passed away years ago in 2011. After his death, Toldo began faithfully visiting the cemetery. Residents soon noticed that he would bring items such as leaves, sticks, plastic cups, or other small trinkets to Renzo’s grave. Sometimes Toldo will lie down on the gravestone or roam quietly through the cemetery.

Renzo’s widow, Ada, shared that Toldo sometimes accompanies her, but most of the time he goes on his own. His daily routine began the very day after the funeral, when he followed the coffin from the family home to the cemetery.

When Ada and her daughter returned, she recalled: “As my daughter and I visited the cemetery, we discovered a sprig of acacia on the grave. While I immediately suspected it was Toldo’s doing, my daughter was convinced that it was a result of my heightened emotional state at the time.” She was proven right when Renzo’s son visited the cemetery that night and discovered Toldo watching over the grave.

Toldo’s loyalty is a heartwarming example of the love and gratitude rescue animals feel.
