Family’s Lockdown Parody of ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ Is Comedy Gold
During the COVID lockdowns, families everywhere looked for ways to pass the time and lift their spirits. For the Marsh Family, that meant turning their musical talents into something unforgettable. They created a hilarious ’80s-inspired parody of Total Eclipse of the Heart, renaming it Totally Fixed Where We Are, to capture the reality of the UK’s third lockdown.
The family wrote in 2021: “This is our parody version of Jim Steinman’s 1983 “Total Eclipse of the Heart” most famously recorded by Bonnie Tyler, which had one of the weirdest music videos ever. It featured lots of disturbing children dancing around a Victorian Gothic hospital in Surrey, so kind of close to home for us…”
The pandemic brought plenty of challenges, but it also sparked amazing bursts of creativity like the Marsh’s song. It’s as funny as it’s brilliantly sung.
