Dashcam Footage Of Woman Caught Stealing Uber Driver’s Tips Goes Viral

She says she only took five dollars, but the woman who stole money from an Uber driver’s tip jars isn’t getting much sympathy after a video revealing her theft has gone viral.

The video, which was originally posted a few months ago, shows three women in the back of Uber driver Mohammed H. Bhuiyan’s car. Footage shows the group chatting with each other quietly in the back of the cab. Just as they are about to exit the vehicle, the teenager in the middle – since identified as 18-year-old Gabrielle Canales – reaches towards the tip jar.

She looks directly at the camera (seemingly unaware that it is recording), puts her hand into the tip jar, grabs some cash and exits the vehicle. It’s not until he’s pulling away that Bhuiyan notices she took the money.

According to Metro UK, Canales would later post to Instagram that she “only took five dollars” and later returned the money to Bhuiyan. Her Instagram account has since been deleted.

Bhuiyan said he did contact Uber who advised him to report the incident to police. An Uber spokesman told the paper, “What’s been shown has no place on our app and the rider’s access to the app has been removed.”

However Canales has since told Inside Edition in an interview that she’s still on the app and doesn’t feel sorry for what she did.
