Woman Spots Bear Relaxing On Mattress At Dump

Seeing black bears at the garbage dump isn’t an unusual sight for people in Northern Canada. Seeing one relaxing on a mattress is. But that’s exactly what Keira Mamakwa saw when she went to visit the landfill near the northern town in Kingfisher Lake, Ontario recently.

As she entered the dump, she spotted the bear lounging on a discarded mattress about 15 feet away from her.

The bear appeared to be settling in for an uninterrupted sleep, taking advantage of a bed that a human no longer wanted.

The bear didn’t seem in a hurry to leave his comfy spot so Mamakwa decided to take a few photos of him “just vibing” as she described him on Facebook.

The bear did take notice of her at one point and sat up to look at her. Was the bear looking a bit annoyed with her for interrupting his sleep time? Mamakwa doesn’t say, but she told CTV Northern Ontario, “Bears are very funny around here.”

By the time Mamakwa headed out, the bear had settled back on the mattress, no doubt ready to enjoy some shut-eye on the softer-than-dirt surface he had discovered.
