Malissa Lewis was on her way to work when she noticed a black garbage bag on the side of a rural road in Kentucky. But she immediately slowed down and came to a full stop when she noticed the bag was moving! Although she had no idea what was inside, she knew there was something living inside and knew she had to investigate.
When she opened the bag up, she found an adorable 8-week-old puppy inside! She believes was dumped and left to die.
Malissa posted videos of her rescue and wrote, “If this is your puppy, let me know. If you are the scoundrel who put it in a garbage bag and tossed it on the side of the road…..you’re a sicko.”
Malissa took the puppy home with her and soon the puppy was happily asking for hugs and attention.
It’s unknown if the puppy might have been stolen and dumped or if some cruel individual simply wanted to get rid of him, but police are investigating who may be responsible for the crime.
Since posting her videos online, Malissa said that the family has decided to keep the Labrador/Boxer puppy. Now named Hefty, the puppy has already have gotten his shots. Hefty is happy, healthy and now has a loving home!
I’m so happy Malissa found Hefty when she did, or the story might not have had such a happy ending.
