Two Women Stealing From Graves Get Caught After Cemetery Teaches Them A Lesson

Two suspects got busted in the act and taught a lesson they’ll never forget after stealing mementos left by families at a cemetery. They would have gotten away with it, had it not been for surveillance cameras catching them red-handed.

Residents in the town of London, Ohio, were dismayed to discover the keepsakes and mementos they were bringing to Grove Street Cemetery were disappearing. One woman was visiting her father’s grave when she was heartbroken to discover the flower pot she had given her father was missing. Although the pot did not have much monetary value, for her the sentimental value was priceless.

“I gave that flower pot to my father for Father’s Day in 1977,” she told WJW Cleveland. “It has no price that they can give me to replace that pot.”

When the cemetery reviewed their surveillance cameras they spotted two elderly women going through the cemetery and picking items from the graves and loading them up in their car. They were even pinching items weighed down and secured with bricks. But the pair were unaware that the cemetery’s surveillance cameras were filming the entire time.

The victim was shocked by their brazen act. “I couldn’t believe it; they just leisurely shopped through our cemetery taking what they wanted,” she said of the surveillance footage.

Police were later able to identify and charge the two women with misdemeanor theft charges. But the town was in for even more of a shock when they discovered who one of the suspects is.
