Sheep Born Paralyzed Learns to Zoom Around in a Motorized Wheelchair
Meet Kiki, a sheep with disabilities who gets around using a motorized chair all on her own. With a joystick adapted for her, she can move in any direction she chooses.
Kiki was born paralyzed due to a virus. After her mother rejected her, the farmer who owned her began hand-rearing her but knew she needed more support. He reached out to Don’t Forget Us Pets Farm Sanctuary because he wanted Kiki to have a chance at life.
Because of her mobility issues, the sanctuary had to create special tools to help her engage with the world. They noticed she had incredible dexterity with her lips and teeth, so they adapted an electric cart so she could use her head to steer.
Within days, Kiki was zooming around, relishing her newfound freedom. She now visits other farm animals or simply relaxes in the sun.

The innovation has drawn attention from other sanctuaries, who have reached out for advice on how to build similar carts for animals in need.
Her caregivers say she has the sweetest bond with people and seems to know exactly what they’re thinking and feeling.
Although some critics say it’s cruel to keep her alive, the overwhelming majority see a happy, thriving sheep. Many are amazed by her intelligence and spirit. Kiki is proving every day why we should never underestimate animals—and why everyone deserves a second chance.
Don’t Forget Us Pets is also letting Kashu the goat (who has a wheelchair) give Kiki’s cart a try. It looks like he’s learning to get the hang of it!
