Seven Puppies And Their Mom Rescued By The Soldiers Who Cared For Them In Afghanistan

This story of a stray dog and her seven puppies who were rescued by a troop of National Guard soldiers is very touching.

It began when Sheba, the mother dog, wandered onto the soldiers’ base in Afghanistan and soon became a beloved friend and mascot to the soldiers. She bravely chased away other strays from the men when they were on patrol.

After Sheba gave birth to a litter of puppies, she became very tired. The soldiers nursed her back to health with army rations and food sent from relatives back home. As the puppies grew, the soldiers grew closer to the dogs. “They really became part of the family to us,” 1st Lt Joseph LaPenta said.

The troops’ hearts broke when they learned that their base was going to close and they might have to leave the dogs behind.

That’s when Sgt. Caba knew he couldn’t leave Afghanistan without taking the dogs with him. Operation Puppy Rescue was underway and an amazing journey for Sheba and her pups was about to begin.

Watch the video below for the rest of the story of Sheba and her puppies Cadence, Rocky, Sarah, Jack, Buckeye, Breezy and Harris and the soldiers who refused to give up on them!
