Mother Of Two Sang In Prison Until This Audition Changed Her Life

Sam Bailey would sing at the men’s prison where she worked, but she always dreamed of singing as a career. With the encouragement of her husband, the 36-year-old mother of two got up the courage to audition on the X Factor a few years ago. She was initially nervous about the audition, wondering if her age or appearance would hinder her chances. “I think I’m a bit too old for it all now, but I can least try,” Sam said to her husband before the audition. And try she did!

She picked a difficult song for her audition – Listen by Beyonce – and blew it out of the park. All four judges gave her a standing ovation at the end of her performance. “Sam, where did that voice come from. I wasn’t expecting that at all,” one judge said. “Your voice is incredible…well done” said another. Her efforts landed her a spot on the show where she impressed the audience so much that she went on to win the show!
