Rescued Cockatoo’s Puppy Love for Her Dog Is Melting Hearts Online
Sweet Pea the Cockatoo has loved Copper the Labrador ever since he was a puppy. When the rescued bird was first introduced to Copper, she was instantly smitten. She wants to pet his head, and when her mom, Wendy Albright, prompts Sweet Pea to tell Copper she loves him, she immediately says, “I love you.”
As Copper grew, Sweet Pea continued to dote on him. Sweet Pea deserved a friend. Albright says, “She had a pretty rough life before me and self mutilated one wing so she can’t fly.” Sweet Pea and Copper get along so well because they’ve grown up together.

The two play together.
They look out for each other, like when Sweet Pea had to go to the vet. Copper didn’t like being separated from Sweet Pea. When she went to the vet to get a birth control implant, he impatiently waited for her to come back and never took his eyes off the door. And Sweet Pea says an adorable “I love you” before she goes for her procedure.
