Kids Come To The Rescue Of 8-Year-Old Dangling From Chairlift

It was a terrifying moment as a young boy dangled dangerously from a chairlift on a popular ski hill in British Columbia on Wednesday. But thanks to a group of fast-thinking young skiers he landed safely.

The frightening incident occurred on Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver and was caught on camera by witnesses on a chair on the same lift. A father was desperately trying to hang onto a young boy, clinging to the lift 6 meters from the ground. Seeing the boy in trouble, five young boys aged 13- and 14-years-old jumped into action.

A few of them grabbed padding from around one of the lift’s pillars. The others grabbed orange netting (used as fencing). They combined the items to make a rescue trampoline. One boy yelled up to kid to take off his skis so he wouldn’t hurt himself.

They then encouraged the boy to let go and they caught him. “Wow they’re heroes,” says one of the people witnessing the event. They certainly are.

More details on the group of friends rescued the young boy is included in the Global News newscast below.
