When Stephanie of Mississippi Horse Rescue saw Dasher he had given up. The horse wasn’t being fed and was starving and she could see that he had told himself “I’m going to lay down and die.”
She told We Love Animals, “I was thinking ‘how am I going to get this horse up?'”
A horse that is down is challenging to get back up but somehow she managed to get Dasher to her trailer 30 feet away and he collapsed inside. Thankfully, his foster home was just 15 minutes away.
The moment he arrived at his foster home he began to eat hay as he lay down. Stephanie wondered if the dehydrated and starving horse would make it because if he couldn’t stand on his own within a day or two, there may not be anything they could do for him.
But Dasher shocked her and was standing on his feet the next day with a little help from his foster family. Not only that but he was pawing the ground telling her to hurry up and feed him. She said, “Once he had a little hope, he just had an amazing will to live.”
One month later, Dasher had undergone an amazing transformation.
