Velma the Great Dane is one very busy mother over the holidays after she recently gave birth to 19 puppies.
Owners Terri and Josh of Alabama said they were surprised when the puppies “just kept coming” and expecting Velma to deliver maybe 10 puppies when she went into labor on December 5th.
They checked the records and it turns out Velma’s 19 puppies tie the national record for most puppies born in a Great Dane litter in the USA.
Velma is doing “very well” and Terri and Josh are helping her feed the pups every 3 to 4 hours, as she would have difficulty feeding all the hungry mouths by herself!
The puppies are “all precious and unique” say Terri and Josh. Velma is so proud of her babies!
