Residents Displaced By Devastating Forest Fire Treated To Heartwarming Holiday Surprise

Last year, thousands of residents of Fort McMurray in Alberta, Canada lost their homes to a devastating forest fire. The wildfire struck the community in May of 2016 and destroyed nearly 2,400 homes and buildings. It forced the largest evacuation in the province’s history.

Months later, many families are still displaced and have still not moved home. That’s when WestJet planned a very big surprise – a Christmas party where they could take their minds off the stress of the past 7 months. Watch the wondrous holiday cheer that this airline organized. And as is tradition with WestJet, Blue Santa makes an appearance too as did 500 stockings, 300 pounds of candy and 348 parachutes.

The Fort McMurray families were touched by the experience. “It’s been a bit of a struggle this Christmas,” said one family. “But that party just lifted our spirits”
