This is a love story that is sure to touch the heart of everyone who hears it. An elderly couple who were married since 1940, died peacefully within a day of each other. After a life together, Alexandaer and Jeanette Toczko said their goodbyes to each other and their family on their 75th wedding anniversary. According to their children, they actually fell in love at the age of eight years old and they never parted.
“Their hearts beat as one from as long as I can remember. He died in her arms, which is exactly what he wanted,” said their daughter Aimee Toczko-Cushman. “She hugged him and she said, ‘See this is what you wanted. You died in my arms and I love you. I love you, wait for me, I’ll be there soon.” Within 24 hours, their mother gently passed away.
The hospice caregiver brought another bed into their home so that the couple could be right next to each other and hold one another in their final moments together.
