Donkey Rescued from Roadside Chains Can’t Stop Braying with Joy

A woman with a heart for rescue animals recently came across a sight she couldn’t ignore—a donkey chained by the roadside. Though she usually rescues dogs, Kelly Louise couldn’t walk away.

The donkey, later named Bocelli, looked so sad when Kelly first saw him. His hooves were in terrible condition, and the chain was cutting into his leg. For three days, she stopped to give him food and water and he lapped up the attention. When she couldn’t stop thinking about him, she reached out to a friend who cares for horses, and they agreed to take him in.

Kelly offered the owner money, got Bocelli off the chain, and helped him start a new life. His reaction to freedom is absolutely heartwarming.

Today, Bocelli brays non-stop, prances freely, and has even made a friend—a horse he now shares his days with. Kelly noted, “He looked really sad and not well looked after, but now he looks amazing.” She added, that he’s actually a bit of a goofball—and he knows he’s safe now.”

She added that just like dogs, “donkeys just want love.”
