Sarah Churman was born without the tiny hairs in her middle ear, a genetic defect that meant she was severely hearing impaired her whole life.
A few years ago, a surgical procedure became available that could restore her hearing, but because of the high cost of the implant surgery (it cost $30,000 per ear), the 29-year-old and her husband Sloan could not afford to get it done. That was until, Sarah’s mother-in-law cashed in her retirement money to give Sarah the surgery for one ear.
Just a week after her surgery, Sarah appeared on The Ellen Show and heartwarmingly described how she could hear her daughters talking and her husband snoring for the very first time.
But what Ellen tells her a few minutes later must have had Sarah wondering if she was hearing right! What an incredible surprise for Sarah and her family!
