Chihuahua In Backpack Dropped Over Fence In Middle Of The Night
A Texas homeowner was startled when his dogs began barking at something in the yard at 3 a.m. He grabbed a flashlight to investigate and spotted a backpack that had been tossed over his fence. To his shock, he discovered a Chihuahua zipped inside!

“Thank goodness his dogs were friendly and that he found her when he did. Texas temps are HOT,” wrote Kirsten Erwin of Streethearts Project who was contacted to rescue the dog.
It was quickly evident that the Chihuahua had just given birth. “She’s full of milk but unfortunately there were no puppies to be found,” Erwin wrote. “I can only hope they were rehomed and not something awful. We’ll likely never know. I do know this little mama is safe.”

The dog, now named Dorothea, did not have a microchip. Erwin coordinated with Misfit Mutts Dog Rescue (MMDR), who took Dorothea into their care. She is now being fostered. MMDR wrote, “Although she’s a bit nervous, she is incredibly sweet! Dorothea is receiving the necessary veterinary care and will be traveling to Wisconsin next month to begin her new journey in search of a forever home.”

Whatever her past might have been, Dorothea’s future looks hopeful and bright.
