K9 Officer Nicky is one brave police dog! Last week, police in Nevada responded to a call where alleged gunshots and screams for help were heard inside a home.
The incident escalated into a 12-hour standoff that continued into the early morning hours. But when negotiations broke down, Las Vegas police called in their K9 officers, unaware the suspect was armed with a knife.

Nicky was sliced in the head multiple times by the suspect, but Nicky did not let that stop him. He didn’t cry or give up when he was attacked. Instead, the heroic dog continued with his job until the suspect was brought down!
Following the attack, Nicky’s partner Sgt. Eric Kerns, rushed him to a nearby vet for surgery and he is now recovering at home.
“Nicky is home now and doing well,” they wrote on Facebook. “Thank you for all the well wishes. He’s a little loopy but is in great spirits. Truly has the heart of a champion.!!! Great job in taking down a very bad suspect!
Sgt. Kerns, who has been working with Nicky for three years, told 13 Action News: “He’s a very good police dog, he’s a very courageous dog. He’s been up against some tough suspects, some big intimidating people, and he doesn’t care.”
K9 Nicky proves he’s not only a brave officer, but he doesn’t let anything get in the way of doing his duty.
