Bear Decides To Join Two Guys On Their Trail Run And Gives Them A Scare of Their Lives

Coming face-to-face with a bear is a terrifying experience. I know this personally, as it happened to me, only my bear was a grizzly and I didn’t even think about taking out a camera.

Bruce D. Allan was out for a jog on the Matcheetawin Discovery Trails outside Fort McMurray, Alberta when he noticed a black bear following him and his running buddy. They picked up rocks to use as self-defence, but never needed them, thank goodness. What they caught on camera is fascinating … and terrifying!

If you’re out in the woods, remember to bring some basic protective devices like bear spray, bells that jingle when you walk/run to scare wildlife away, and a whistle.

Normally, bears are afraid of humans and will run away if they hear the sound of bear bells, but if a bear ever associates humans with food, then the situation can be very dangerous. That’s why it’s important to NEVER feed wildlife: a fed bear is a dead bear.

It’s also useful to remember that there are two different ways to handle bear attacks: If it’s black, fight back. But if it has a hump (if it’s a grizzly bear), act like a lump (play dead).

Make sure you share this with your friends and family who enjoy the outdoors, and remember to have fun and stay safe!
