Wild Boar Crashes Into Florida Home, Hangs Out With Elderly Man
82-year-old Ed Wells and his dog Bailey got an unwelcome visitor when a 300-pound boar smashed through the glass sliding door of his Florida home, attacked Bailey, and then decided to hang around in the living room.
“Life got crazy yesterday,” says Stacy Wells, after her elderly father called to tell her a wild boar had broken into the house. When she arrived, sure enough, the huge boar was standing in Ed’s living room.
Every morning, Ed sends a message to his daughter to check in. But on this particular morning, he gave her a phone call. He later told news outlets that he initially thought the home was being bombed after the wild boar crashed through the door. Since Ed is not able to move around easily, he sat in his chair while the boar stood watching him for close to an hour.
He and his daughter called the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for help. Deputies tried to corral the pig, but the animal taunted and charged at them instead before eventually getting away. Stacy and the authorities both filmed the unusual encounter.
Bailey needed some stitches afterwards but was otherwise all right, and Ed said he really wasn’t that scared of the pig. The authorities reported the boar is still on the loose. They wrote on Facebook: “We were able to remove the boar from the home, sending him snout and about where he belongs — the woods!”
Here’s the bodycam footage from one of Lee County Sheriff’s deputies while they attempted to wrangle the boar.
