Watch a Determined Mama Raccoon Pull Off a Heart-Stopping Rooftop Rescue

A couple in Franklin, Pennsylvania witnessed a mother’s determination and love when they spotted a mama raccoon dangling from a rooftop to rescue her baby. Hannah Glancy filmed the heart-stopping moment.

The mama raccoon clings to the roof, gripping the gutter tightly with her arms and legs while holding her baby by the scruff of his neck. Glancy’s partner can be heard saying, “God, she’s not going to be able to get him up. She’s going to drop him,” as the baby dangles and swings precariously from his mother’s mouth. But the determined mama summons her strength, expertly swinging him upward and, in a remarkable display of effort, hoisting him onto the roof with one arm. Watch the incredible moment below:

With her legs wrapped tightly around the gutter and her mouth gripping the nape of her baby’s neck, the mama raccoon swings with purpose—and then, in a stunning show of strength, lifts him over the edge with one arm.

The couple were amazed and relieved. “Look at her go,” proclaims Glancy. “Wow! That is the will of a mama right there,” the man says. This mama’s action is a powerful reminder of just how far a mother will go to protect her child.
