Vet Clinic Is Expecting a Cat…But a Calf Shows Up Instead

Staff at the Ramsgate Veterinary Clinic were getting ready for a routine cat appointment but they got a big shock when a newborn bull calf walked through their doors instead.

It all started like any other busy day at the clinic in Waco, Texas. A client called in saying he needed to bring his “cat” in for treatment. But it turned out to be anything but.

When the owner arrived, he asked Dr. Krueger for help opening the door. “I walked out and looked in the truck,” Krueger recalled. “No cat — but there was a bull calf sitting right in the passenger seat!”

The calf named Ferdinand, was dehydrated, lethargic, and hadn’t nursed. Not quite what the clinic was equipped for, he was gently settled into an exam room and started on bottle feedings. Thanks to the team’s quick care, Ferdinand is now feeling much better and thriving.

“Thanks to a phone mix-up, this sweet baby ended up with us,” the clinic wrote. “We made sure Ferdinand got the care he needed. Always ready for whatever comes through our doors!”

Ferdinand is now back at home, being bottle fed and doing well.
