What this son did to fulfill a promise he made to his father when he was 8 years old is so moving. And wait until you see his dad’s reaction…I had to grab a tissue!
“Growing up my dad always dreamed of owning a 57 Chevy Bel-Air. He grew up poor in a family of 7 children,” explained the son. “He never thought he would be able to own his dream vehicle but would talk about it all the time. When I was 8 years old I promised him that on his 57th birthday I would buy him a 57 Bel-Air. I never forgot and was able to fulfill my promise.”
Michael King worked 60 hours a week, 6 days a week over a few months so he could afford to buy the classic car for his dad. What’s even more precious about his special gift is that he bought the car two years ago and hid it from his dad all that time, patiently waiting until his dad’s 57th birthday to arrive!
When the big day finally arrived, Michael invited his dad over to his home on the pretense of repairing some cornhole boards, before opening the garage door to reveal his big gift!
Seeing his dad’s reaction must have made it all worth while. Michael explained that prior to the big reveal, he had shown his dad a photo of the car’s listing, and his dad was thrilled when he saw it. “We would talk about older vehicles so to gauge how much he would enjoy it [the car],” Michael wrote. “I would show him pictures of it from the listing I found. He would get so excited and talk about owning something like that but that he ‘knew her never would be able to.”
We should all take the time in our lives to put as much thought and care into making our loved ones happy as this man did for his dad!
