Shoe Store Owner Reacts To Vandalism In Inventive Way

When Philadelphia shoe store owner Steve Jamison became a victim of vandalism, he decided to respond to the upsetting situation in a creative way that is making locals smile.

Recently, a vandal was recorded on Jamison’s security camera repeatedly throwing a brick at his store’s window and breaking it. When Jamison looked at the damage, he wanted his customers and community to feel better about the situation, so he decided to turn it into an artistic installation by inserting a shoe in the crack. The result has caught people’s attention.

“It makes me smile every day,” he told ABC News. He also says it’s bringing smiles to the faces of locals as well, who are stopping to take pictures and talk with him. The installation will remain up for the six to eight weeks it takes for the new glass to arrive.

For Jamison, the experience has been an example of his life philosophy: “Make the best of whatever challenges you’re faced with.”
