Lost Sea Otter Pup Cries for Help — Then Rescuers Use Clever Method to Find Mom

A baby sea otter separated from his mother during a storm has been safely reunited with her thanks to dedicated wildlife workers.

Someone called the wildlife public helpline in Monterey, California, after spotting a sea otter pup crying for half an hour. During the rescue operation, workers recorded the pup’s cries so they could replay the sounds later to help locate his mother.

After two hours of broadcasting the audio over Bluetooth, they finally found a female sea otter who repeatedly approached the boat and began grooming the pup. Watching the emotional reunion, Shayla Zink with The Marine Mammal Center admitted, “I definitely cried a bit.”
