Little Sister Sees Her Siblings for the First Time After Cancer Diagnosis in Emotional Video
When Maria Helena de Oliveira—affectionately known as Mahe—was just two years old, a video of her emotional reunion with her older siblings went viral. After spending two weeks in the hospital due to a rare and aggressive cancer, her siblings ran to hug her, tears and laughter mixing in a moment of pure relief and love.

Maria was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma at age two, after symptoms like loud snoring, breathing difficulties, and unusual bad breath appeared during a family trip. A lump soon formed on her neck, and urgent tests confirmed the diagnosis. Her condition escalated quickly, requiring an ICU stay and an intensive chemotherapy plan, including oral, intravenous, and intrathecal treatments, carefully tailored for her rare case.
During treatment, Maria endured long hospitalizations and extended periods away from her siblings, sometimes lasting 13 to 15 days. The separation was difficult for her family, but the reunion captured in that viral video showed the unbreakable bond of siblings in its purest form.
Now, at four years old, Maria continues her treatment but is doing much better. She has returned to school, enjoys daily life with her siblings and friends, and remains cheerful, bright, and full of life.
