Hero Man Dashes Into Floodwaters to Rescue Cat in Oman

A man was caught on camera risking his life to save a cat being swept away by raging floodwaters in the streets of Oman.

The brave man can be seen running down the side of a street where water is rushing down like a river where cars used to travel.

In the dirty fast-flowing brown water it’s hard to see anything moving but this man followed the tiny life struggling to stay afloat.

Where other bystanders are huddled on the raised steps of storefronts watching the water, this man is sprinting and then suddenly plunges down with his hands outstretched.

With one arm he flings the cat towards the sidewalk while trying to stop himself with the other. The cat hurtles into the air but lands safely away from the floods and the man manages to stop against a curb and pull himself out.

Onlookers cheered him on and the man triumphantly raised his hands in the air after rescuing the cat.

Authorities in the Sultanate of Oman are responding to recent floods due to heavy rainfall that hit parts of the country on Mar 21, 2026. The heavy rains have claimed the lives of two people and video released of the disaster show cars being swept away and destroyed roads.
