In a heartbreaking case of animal cruelty, a spark of hope has emerged. Bibi, a Giant Schnauzer, is now able to stand on her own just days after being on the brink of death.
Her rescuers are calling it a miracle, given that when they first got her, she had just hours left to live.
Bibi was spotted by a Good Samaritan on the side of the road in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, on April 3rd. She was picked up by Broward County Animal Care field officers and rushed to Big Dog Ranch Rescue (BDRR) for emergency care. The large black dog was severely emaciated and suffering from multiple injuries, including deep bruises, broken ribs, spinal damage, and a pellet wound.

BDRR’s veterinarian believes Bibi had likely been starved for more than a month. The deep bruising on her bones suggests ongoing abuse. She faces a long road to recovery, but her rescuers are optimistic. “Her road to healing will be long, but she no longer has to walk it alone—because of you.”

The rescue is not only dedicated to healing Bibi they are also determined to find out who is responsible. “This is the worst case of animal cruelty we’ve ever seen yet,” said Big Dog Ranch Rescue founder Lauree Simmons. “All signs point to animal abuse. This was definitely not related to a car accident and the abuser must be caught and prevented from doing this to other animals.”
In response, the rescue organization has launched a “Justice for Bibi” campaign and is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
