Dog Missing for Six Days During Winter Storm Found Alive

A dog who went missing for six days during a brutal winter storm that brought snow and sub-zero temperatures to Bridgewater, Pennsylvania has been found alive. Willow, a half-husky, half-Pomeranian mix, ran away from her family and disappeared. Her family alerted authorities and spread the word everywhere they could, but for days there was no sign of her.

That changed six days later when the family received a call from local firefighters. A homeless man had spotted a dog trapped roughly 650 feet down a train trestle and flagged down a police officer. Could it be Willow?

The officer called in firefighters, who climbed down into the space and discovered Willow with her rear end covered in ice. Firefighters were stunned — and relieved — to discover she was still alive.

Willow had dug a small trench and curled up inside it, somehow surviving the freezing conditions. Her family is overjoyed to have her home and credit her remarkable toughness to her husky heritage.
