Runaway Rescue Dog Caught Stealing Porch Pumpkins in Hilarious Surveillance Cam Footage

A family in Texas couldn’t figure out why one of their front-porch pumpkin decorations for Thanksgiving had disappeared until they checked their surveillance cameras.

To their surprise, the culprit wasn’t a prankster or a neighborhood kid. It was a dog. And not just any dog, but the newly rescued pup who lived next door.

According to the neighbors, the dog had recently been adopted after being found abandoned. But the curious pup escaped his family’s backyard and wandered over to the house when he spotted the plastic pumpkins on the porch. That’s when he decided they might be his new favorite toys.

Security footage shows the dog trotting confidently up the steps, grabbing a pumpkin with his mouth, and proudly prancing away with it — tail wagging and mission accomplished.

The family described the event succinctly: “The neighbor recently rescued an abandoned dog, who promptly escaped their backyard. The pup was feeling playful and decided to use our plastic pumpkins as a toy.”

His little pumpkin heists may have been unexpected, but it’s hard to be mad at a dog who’s simply enjoying some holiday cheer. Now that the mystery is solved, the neighbors can only laugh and share the funny moment — and perhaps keep a closer eye on their fall décor.
