Couple Spots Stranded Dolphins on Empty Beach, Then Launches a Daring Rescue

Walter Andreoli and his wife were taking a walk on a beach in San Antonio Este, Argentina, when their leisurely stroll turned into an animal rescue mission. They found not one but two stranded dolphins—one stuck on the muddy sand, the other caught in the reeds.

The couple were outside of cell phone service, so they had to think on their feet. Fortunately, Walter had a rope he could use to pull the dolphins back to sea. It wasn’t an easy task, as one weighed around 280 pounds! But he managed to guide them to the water, sprinkling water over their dry bodies as he worked. Eventually, the tide rose enough for the dolphins to regain their strength and swim away.
