A Dog Was So Depressed She Had Given Up All Hope of Living Until One Person Took This Photo

This one-year-old pit bull had lost all hope in life and was so depressed she refused to look at anyone while she was being held at the shelter. The dog named Chelsea wouldn’t even turn around to face visitors looking for a new family member. It was like she didn’t believe anyone could ever want her.

The San Bernadino shelter in California had put her on a list of animals to be euthanized. For dogs on that list, time on this Earth is short.

Luckily for Chelsea, a wonderful dog rescuer snapped a photo of her. Since Chelsea refused to look at anyone, the photo ended up featuring her back side. The rescuer wrote, “Not a great picture? Imagine how she feels ;( Pit Bull scared out of her mind here, this breaks my heart, she’s a really sweet dog , who does this?”

Word quickly spread online with the plea for help to save Chelsea and within a few days she was rescued. Now, instead of being put down, Chelsea has a new home, where she will hopefully heal from her trauma.

When dogs are kept at a shelter, many get visibly depressed and anxious. Others develop behavioural or medical issues directly related to the shelter setting. Chelsea’s story highlights this problem and serves as a great reminder help other dogs at the shelter who are just as downhearted and also in need of rescue. Everyone deserves a second chance.

Please share Chelsea’s story and encourage friends looking to adopt a dog to take a second look at the ones nobody else wants.
