Swing Dancers Perform Spontaneous Routine That Earns Them Top Prize

John Lindo knows a thing or two about swing dancing – he’s been hitting the dance circuit for 20 years. And although he may not look like your typical-looking dancer, don’t let appearances deceive you – Lindo is a championship dancer.

Not only has he won numerous Swing dancing competitions, but he is also a highly successful dance instructor, competition judge and choreographer.

In the video featured below, Lindo is participating in the North Atlantic Dance Championship’s West Coast Swing Jack & Jill competition back in 2008. Jack and Jill competitions are when dancers get assigned random partners and have to dance spontaneously to the music – so no rehearsals!

Lindo was paired with Deborah Szekely and from the moment they begin to dance, it’s like they’ve danced together for years.

They move effortlessly across the dance floor and appear perfectly in synch. No wonder they earned first place for their breezy, fun routine.

They not only entertained the spectators at the competition, the YouTube video of their dance has gone on to be viewed more than 8 million times! Check out the fabulous dancing below:

As of 2019, Lindo is still dancing up a storm. Recently, he danced with Tatiana Mollmann in the MADjam 2019 Champions Jack & Jill, showing that he’s still in top form when it comes to dancing West Coast Swing!
