Skinny Pit Bull Has Heartwarming Reaction After Being Found in Abandoned Car

Summer makes it a point not to pick up a new stray dog when she already has other dogs in her car. But the dog rescuer with Dog Days of Summer Sanctuary always stops if she sees a dog in need. That’s exactly what happened when she spotted Peaches, a Pit Bull peeking her head out from an abandoned car. The skinny Pittie was hiding in the broken-up vehicle, but when she saw Summer approach, she wasn’t scared. Instead, she had the most amazing reaction.

Even if I have dogs already with me when I see a dog in need, I always stop, secure my dogs in the vehicle and then go check on the dog in need to assess the situation. This pooch was happy to see me and definitely in need of medical attention, food and love. #rescue #adopt #rescuedismyfavoritebreed #rescuedog #adoptdontshop

So she gave Peaches some treats and got the sense that the pup knew she would come back for her. Summer dumped a whole lot of food for her, gave her a pet, and returned within 10 minutes — and Peaches was ready to go. She didn’t even have to get out of the car. Peaches jumped right in, thrilled at being rescued.

Summer explained on TikTok: “I left food for this sweet pooch and headed home to drop off the dogs already in the car. When I got back, she was waiting for me. Some dogs are terrified and I need to use a trap to catch them. Some dogs are scared and I need to build trust over time before I can get them to come to me. Some are timid, but with enough patience, snacks, and coaxing, I can get them to come with me. And some dogs are just GRATEFUL and ready to be helped. That was the case with this pup. It was like she was waiting to exhale, finally, to rest. I opened the car door and she jumped in immediately — planted a big kiss across my face. This is the first day of the rest of your life, I told her, and we headed to the sanctuary.”

After a short time, Peaches is now in “really good shape” and ready for her forever home. To adopt Peaches or find out more about Dog Days of Summer Sanctuary, visit their website.
