Abandoned Ferret Found in Woods Finds Love with His Rescuer and Her Dog
Kayla was driving when something small and white darting near the woods caught her eye. At first, she thought it might be a kitten, so she turned her car around to take a closer look. As she approached, she guessed it might be a weasel or maybe a ferret. And she was right — it was an abandoned ferret, alone and clearly out of place.
She shared on Instagram:
“Saturday afternoon I was driving the back roads in No Man’s Land and saw something white and tiny walking.. OBVIOUSLY, I turned around and to my surprise… a ferret.”
Knowing he wouldn’t survive on his own, Kayla brought the little guy home. At first, he was nervous, cautiously sniffing his new surroundings. But that very first night, he curled up in her arms and fell asleep, trusting that she had his welfare at heart.

Kayla put up posters, posts on social media, and contacted local shelters; no one responded that they were missing a ferret. She took him to the vet and discovered he had a microchip, but no owner was registered. Though Kayla had never owned a ferret before—and quickly learned they’re high-maintenance and not exactly trainable like her dogs—she made the decision to adopt him and named him Noodle. “I’ve always wanted a ferret but never expected to get one this way,” she wrote on Instagram.
Now Noodle is thriving in his new home. While Kayla plans to get him a fellow ferret friend soon, for now he’s found an unlikely best buddy Julian, her rescued stray dog. The two have formed a sweet bond, playing and cuddling like lifelong companions.
