Tiny Stray Dog Clings To Life In Flooded Bayou Until Hero Steps In

While passing by a flooded bayou in Houston, Texas, a Good Samaritan spotted a tiny face peeking out from the reeds. It was a puppy—Eddy—clinging for dear life as water surged around him.

Shaking from the cold and fear, Eddy was clearly in danger. The woman knew she had to act, so she waded into the water and pulled him to safety. “Eddy was rescued from a bayou and would have likely drowned had she not seen him,” said CAMO Rescue, the rescue who took in Eddy.

At CAMO Rescue Eddy was placed in foster care and began the journey toward finding a forever home. At first, Eddy was very afraid. “He was a bit of a behavior dog,” they shared, but his foster was able to help him calm down quickly. “He was wary at first, but relaxed quickly for a scared little guy,” they added.

Eddy was also quite skinny, and it turned out he wasn’t too fond of kibble. He preferred scrambled eggs or a meat, rice, and vegetable mix.

At just around a year old, Eddy showed some quirks that hinted at his past. “He has a low growl when held and petted that seems almost like a purr, rather than a growl,” CAMO Rescue noted. “He may have been raised around cats. He has been around older kids and loves them.”

Eddy also loves people and other dogs, enjoys doing zoomies, and is crate trained. After spending a few weeks in foster care, he was put up for adoption. Though his profile no longer appears on CAMO Rescue’s adopt dogs page, it looks like Eddy has found his forever home.

Whoever adopted him is in for a treat. As CAMO Rescue shared, Eddy “just loves to lie close by, and to be loved.”
