Circumstances and their troubled pasts brought them together. But love kept them together. When Phyllis Olson met an Arabian stallion named Shag-Ra she had almost given up on life and love.
From a young age, Phyllis had fled an abusive home. She married, divorced, lost her kids, lived on the streets and abused alcohol throughout. She even spent time in prison. But when she got out, Phyllis decided to get a horse. It was something she had always wanted to do. She took the $300 she earned in prison and found Shag-Ra. He was a mess when she first met him.
“I walked in the barn and there was this skinny, little horse with the biggest, saddest brown eyes I’ve ever seen in my life,” she said. She took Shag-Ra back to her farm in Canada, a place she called “God’s Little Acre” and the two began to heal one another.
Their friendship blossomed and so too did Shag-Ra’s unique and funny personality. That’s when Phyllis realized she had to share her very smart horse with the rest of the world. Wait until you see the rest of this remarkable story in the video below!
