This dog with special needs has been on one incredible journey. Cleo originally lived in Egypt as a stray dog. When she was just a puppy she was hit by a car and her back legs were paralyzed.
Somehow she managed to survive on the streets, but she was beaten and abused until one day someone rescued her. Now 2 years old, Cleo was flown to the United States to be fostered and eventually find a forever home. But when her foster mom in Chicago had to get back surgery and could no longer care for her, Heartland Small Animal Rescue in Indiana stepped in to help.
The sweet dog gets around with a wheelchair and the rescue group will see if they can rehabilitate one of her legs.
The group recently threw a “puppy shower” to help her on her journey back to health.
Members in the community dropped off care items and donations and got to meet Cleo in person.
Hopes are that Cleo will find a forever family in the future. Please share her “rags to riches” story with your friends on Facebook!
