Lucky is a very lucky horse. The 1200-pound horse got sucked into a sinkhole on her family’s property in Lake View Terrace recently. Juan Lastre’s wife was riding Lucky when the pair started sinking into the hole.
The woman fell over Lucky but was able to crawl out but injured her side. Lucky was stuck in the mud up to her waist and couldn’t be pulled out so the Lastres called for help. Dozens of firefighters came out to help free the horse.
Firefighters spent several hours of digging in the mud and eventually used a large hoist to pull Lucky out. Thankfully Lucky was unhurt. Lastre says she’s walking and eating and her legs are not damaged.
