The Grinch Not Only Stole Christmas, He Made Halloween Grinch Night

Did you know there is a prequel to ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ titled ‘Halloween is Grinch Night’? Yes, long before Tim Burton’s ‘A Nightmare Before Christmas‘ was released there was another mash-up of Christmas and Halloween holidays starring the Grinch.

Roughly ten years after the Chuck Jones-produced ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas!‘ television special premiered, ‘Halloween is Grinch Night’ aired on ABC. The 1977 Halloween special went on to win an Emmy for “Outstanding Animated Program” in 1977, although it doesn’t feature the wonderful voice of actor Boris Karloff (who passed away in 1968). Instead, Hans Conried is the voice of the Grinch and Thurl Ravenscroft, who sang on the original special, again provided singing vocals.

Although nothing compares to the original ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’, seeing the Grinch and his dog Max again is cause to celebrate, and you can watch this curious sequel/prequel below:
