13-Year-Old Boy Uses Slingshot to Save Sister From Being Abducted From Their Backyard

A Michigan teen is being hailed as a hero after saving his sister from an attempted abduction by using a slingshot. 13-year old Owen Burns was inside his home in Michigan and his 8-year-old sister was in the backyard picking mushrooms when the alleged kidnapper tried to snatch her.

Owen heard his sister scream and didn’t think much about it until she screamed again and that’s when he saw a 17-year-old teenage boy trying to sntach his sister.

He grabbed his slingshot, a marble and a rock. Staying composed and calm, Owen fired a shot at the suspect and hit him in the forehead. Then a second shot at teen’s arm. According to police, the head shot caused the suspect to let go of Owen’s sister. She was able to run away from her would be abductor and back to the safety of her home.

The suspect ran away but was later caught and identified thanks to the injuries made by Owen’s slingshots. Police said that the the suspect admitted that he planned to beat up the girl.

Officials said the suspect has been charged as an adult with attempted kidnapping and child enticement.

What a brave big brother! We’re so thankful he acted so quickly and is such a good marksman with his slingshot!
