Sloth Clings To Freeway Barrier Until Help Arrives

This wild long-haired sloth was trying to cross a freeway in Ecuador when he stopped in the middle of the road and decided to grab hold of the barrier for safety.

That’s how officers from the Transit Commission of Ecuador found him in the city of Quevedo.

Pictures posted by the government organization show the sloth peering up at the officers curiously, but refusing to let go of the metal pole. Since posting the pictures on Facebook, the photos have gone viral.

Many people were curious as to the fate of the sloth, and the Transit Commission was quick to reassure everyone that they were able to rescue him and get him off the road and back to safety.

“The sloth rescued by our officers was checked out by a veterinarian, who determined that he was in optimal condition to be returned to his habitat,” the Transit Commission of Ecuador wrote on its Facebook page.

Sloths are well-known for taking it slow, and I’m glad to see this one decided not to rush across the busy road and get hurt! Thank goodness he got help and is back in his habitat once more.
