Little Girl Who Survived Fire That Killed Her Entire Family Asks For Christmas Cards For Christmas

Two years ago, Safyre Terry lost her father, sister, and two brothers to a fire started by an arsonist. She survived the fire because her father covered himself over her.

But she still suffered severe burns to over 75% of her body. After staying in hospital for 11 months, she went to live with her paternal aunt, Liz Dolder. In the time since, she’s endured 50 surgeries, lost her hand and her foot and the surgeries will continue.

Despite the tragedy in her past, Safyre keeps positive and loves the holidays. Dolder got Safyre a Christmas tree that holds cards. Whenever she receives one she can hang them up. Safyre told her aunt she could not wait to fill it up. The card tree can hold 100 cards, but Dolder thought they might get 10.

I wonder how many of my friends would take the time to write and send Safyre a Merry Christmas card that she can hang on her card tree….

Realizing it was important to Safyre, Dolder, with the help of friends, started a Facebook campaign asking supporters to send Safyre a Christmas card.

Soon, she received comments from all over. Shortly after she began receiving cards.

She has been getting cards from far and wide. From Uruguay and Hungary to Texas and New Jersey. So many were arriving that they were stacked in boxes around her tree.

Then came time to decorate the tree with all the cards.

Safyre has shared her thanks with everyone in a short video. She’s received so many cards, she can no longer fit them on her tree.
