Woman With MS Had No Idea She Was Pregnant Until She Gave Birth To Baby In Bathroom

Claire Evans was just 19 when she awoke and told her mum she wasn’t well. She was experiencing numbness and paralysis in her arms, and after going to the doctor she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Doctors put her on a strict regime of medications to lessen her MS symptoms. Five months later, Claire returned to work not sure what her future held. Then she met Paul. The two fell in love and four years later she gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Her MS was in remission during this time.

But in March 2005, she had a relapse and the right side of her body was paralyzed. She was given steroids and gained 7 to 10 pounds, which she attributed to her medications and extra bed rest. Throughout it all her menstrual cycle remained regular. So what happened next came as a tremendous shock to both Claire and her husband!

Claire woke up in the middle of the night with severe cramps and bleeding. She screamed at Paul that she felt like she was in labor. Paul was stunned when Claire gave birth to a baby girl while sitting on the toilet. They had no idea she was pregnant. But that wasn’t the craziest part. Claire and Paul were in for another shock! She had twins! Who would have thought it? Claire’s two girls, Macie and Charlie, are doing fine and in an interview with the Mirror UK in 2006, she said that within hours of giving birth, the paralysis and numbness she had been enduring started to fade away!

“It was absolutely amazing,” said Claire. “I’d got my life back. I am a very lucky woman and every time I look at my twins I think they are my little miracles who saved me.”
