Woman Generously Offers To Pay For All Adoptions At Animal Shelter

An incredibly generous woman is sponsoring all adoptions at a Sacramento animal shelter so that they can have homes by Christmas. Real estate agent Kim Pacini-Hauch extended the offer to Front Street Animal Shelter and since news broke, they’ve had an overwhelmingly positive response.

After posting a Facebook video announcing the news on November 15, 2016, the shelter got 5 million views and a more than 250 people were lined up when the shelter opened the next day at noon, Bobby Mann, a spokesman for the shelter told The Sacramento Bee.

By closing time, 20 cats and 21 dogs had been adopted. with their shelter extremely full, the offer couldn’t have come at a better time for them, although they said that it is unlikely they will run out of pets for people to adopt. The shelter takes in close to 11,000 unwanted animals every year and currently has 650 animals in foster care.

Nevertheless, the shelter is incredibly grateful for Kim’s offer but also reassured everyone that it’s not a “drive-through service”. People looking to adopt will have interviews and counselling in order to try and match the pet with prospective owners. Several people who have adopted from the shelter in the past have commented that the shelter has a pretty thorough screening process.

As to why Kim extended the offer, the real estate agent remarked on her website that she adopted a dog from the shelter back in 1984. Teddy was terrified when she first saw him, but the moment she brought him home he became a playful, loving companion who loved singing along to Stevie Wonder. “I loved him with every inch of my being and have missed him greatly,” she wrote.
