Ominous Waterspout Caught On Camera Before It Wreaked Havoc On Shoreline

A huge waterspout that started over the ocean and turned into a tornado on land, surprised people in the coastal town of Sanremo in northwestern Italy recently. Many residents in the city captured the eerie and powerful phenomenon on video, and the footage is stunning to watch.

The rare weather event greeted residents on the Italian coastal city on December 1, 2017 and the videos shared on social media show the whirling waterspout forming over the water before it wreaked havoc at the harbor.

It damaged boats, roofs and vehicles in minutes, although fortunately no person was seriously hurt.

Waterspouts are funnels of cloud and mist that form over the water – a water tornado, if you will. They usually only last around 5 to 10 minutes.
